Self -Care

Know Your Limits
You can care deeply about someone without taking responsibility for fixing their problems. Know when it’s time to involve a trusted adult.
Make Time for What Fills You Up
Spend time doing things you enjoy—sports, music, hobbies, friends, being outside, or simply relaxing.
Stay Connected
Talk with people you trust about what’s happening in your life. You deserve support, too.
Take a Break
It’s okay to step away from Squad responsibilities when you need to recharge. Rest is part of being effective.
Check in With Yourself
Pay attention to your own emotions, stress, and energy. If something feels overwhelming, talk with a trusted adult or counselor.
Remember Your Role
Your role is to notice, care, and connect. You are never expected to manage a crisis, provide counseling, or carry someone’s struggles by yourself.

Share Your Hope

Show us what your Squad has been up to!

From Hope Week activities to everyday moments of connection, we want to see how your Squad is making a difference. Share photos, stories, events, and ideas from your school—and inspire other Hope Squads along the way. Plus, every submission enters you into a gift card raffle!

Crisis Resources

If something feels bigger than you, get help.
Hope Squad Members are not expected to solve a crisis. Your job is to recognize when someone may need help and connect them with people who can provide it.

Use these resources for guidance for responding when a friend or your community needs extra support.

The HOPE ApproachⓇ

Keep this quick-reference guide handy when you need a reminder of how to respond and connect a friend with support.

Turn to Trusted Adults

Start by telling a trusted adult. Identify whom you can turn to at school and at home, and reach out to them when a situation needs support.
