Tomball ISD Celebrates Hope Week Districtwide to Promote Mental Wellness and Connection
Tomball ISD proudly celebrated Hope Week districtwide, uniting students and staff in a meaningful, student-led effort focused on suicide prevention, mental wellness, and strengthening school connectedness.
Hope Week is an annual, peer-to-peer initiative designed to empower students to support one another, foster positive relationships, and promote a culture of hope, kindness, and belonging across campuses. Throughout the week, Tomball ISD campuses participated in themed spirit days, educational activities, and supportive, community-focused initiatives aimed at raising awareness around mental health and encouraging open, compassionate conversations.
“Hope Week was a district-wide effort, led by our Hope Squads, to strengthen connection, belonging, and help-seeking across our campuses,” said Steven Shiels, Tomball ISD Director of Counseling Services. “We’re proud to see students leading positive, hope-filled activities that remind every student they’re seen, supported, and not alone.”
Tomball ISD high schools and junior high campuses led the charge through their Hope Squads, student groups trained to recognize warning signs, promote help-seeking behaviors, and provide peer support. These student leaders played a vital role in organizing activities, sharing messages of encouragement, and creating welcoming environments where every student feels supported.
Elementary and intermediate campuses also participated through age-appropriate activities that emphasized kindness, empathy, and connection, reinforcing the district’s commitment to supporting mental wellness at every grade level.
Building on the momentum of Hope Week, Tomball ISD will host a Mental Health & Wellness Fair on March 26 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Tomball Event Center. The fair will connect students, families, and community members with local mental health resources, wellness organizations, and educational supports focused on social, emotional, and mental well-being.
Tomball ISD remains committed to fostering safe, supportive learning environments and providing resources that ensure every student feels connected, valued, and supported.
