The Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program at Allen High School in which students provide a safe environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

‍

“Having peers there that you can talk to that will listen, that will be able to be there for you when you’re struggling, is what Hope Squad is really about,” a student said in an Allen ISD press release.

‍

The mission of Hope Squad is to reduce youth suicide through education, training, and intervention and serve as a resource to those affected by suicide.

‍

Hope Squad members are trained to recognize signs of mental distress, listen without judgment, and offer a comforting presence, aiding in the growth of AHS students individually, as a community, and most of all as a family.

‍

Peer leaders are nominated by other students and are carefully interviewed and selected by sponsor David Walker to provide a safe environment for all students.

‍

Whether it's offering a listening ear, organizing group activities, or simply being a reliable friend, the Hope Squad works tirelessly to help others heal and flourish.

‍

If you, a friend, or a family member needs support or words of encouragement, reach out to the Hope Squad through its website or sponsor David Walker, at david.walker@allenisd.org.
