Osseo-Fairchild's 'Hope Squad' awarded Tools for Schools Grant
OSSEO (WQOW) – High school can be a challenging journey for students both academically and socially. Sometimes, they might not know who to turn to for support.
The Hope Squad at Osseo-Fairchild School District is stepping in to help.
This month, the Hope Squad was named the Tools for Schools winner by 18 News and Mower Sperry Insurance. The group consists of students selected by their peers as reliable and friendly classmates. Their main goal is to offer a listening ear to their peers and organize events promoting mental health. That is what they will use the Tools for Schools money for.
"We like to do chill week which is a mental health awareness week where every day has a different theme," said the Hope Squad Advisor, Bree Homich. "We center it around mental health awareness but also positive coping strategies for students and it always costs money to do that so we are always looking for opportunities so I was very happy to say we received this."
