Hope can come in many forms—and for five months, it came in a cup of coffee.

In the fall, the Coronado Hope Squad in Henderson, Nevada, teamed up with Mothership Coffee Roasters, a local women-owned business, to launch a special edition coffee blend created to raise awareness of mental health and support Hope Squad’s mission.

After learning about Hope Squad from Coronado student and Hope Squad National Council member Abigail Wanatabe, Mothership Coffee created a unique, limited-edition HOPE 988 blend. In collaboration with Mothership Coffee’s team, Hope Squad members developed the name and designed a label that reflected the mission of promoting awareness of the 988 hotline. A portion of every sale directly supported Coronado’s Hope Squad, helping expand its impact through peer-driven suicide prevention initiatives.

This partnership showcased the power of community collaboration, proving that even something as simple as a cup of coffee can spark meaningful conversations about mental health. Through initiatives like these, awareness of 988 continues to grow, reminding individuals that help and hope are always just a call or text away.

Hope Squad is grateful to Abigail and the Hope Squad Members at Coronado High School for demonstrating the power of community partnerships. When Hope Squad teams up with community partners, the impact grows, spreading hope even further.
